Any liberal telling you there isn’t a crisis at the border doesn’t know what a crisis looks like.
There are tens of millions of illegals in the country already, and they’re pouring in at some of the fastest rates ever. So bad have things gotten that Border Patrol has been forced to revert to a form of “catch and release” simply because they’re out of space to detain illegals.
According to Fox News:
It took a mere five minutes on Tuesday morning for Border Patrol agents in Texas to apprehend more than 400 illegal immigrants.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), agents near the wall just west of Bowie High School in El Paso encountered a group of 194 illegals around 2:45 a.m. Just five minutes later, agents snagged a second group — this time, it was 245 people — near downtown El Paso.
Officials said that in all, more than 430 people, including those in the two large groups, had been taken in near the El Paso Sector Border Patrol, just three hours into the day.
That specific port of entry averages 570 apprehensions a day.
At 570 apprehensions a day, that means 208,050 illegal crossings at that one port of entry alone every year.
This is hardly an isolated incident – as caravans of migrants attempting to cross the border are becoming more common, with the most recent one ending in February.
The costs of illegal immigration are massive already.
- The cost to taxpayers to educate the children of illegals comes out to $59 billion annually, according to the Federal for American Immigration Reform in 2016.
- Forbes healthcare analyst Chris Conover estimates that roughly 3.9 million illegal (uninsured) immigrants receive healthcare each year, $18.5 billion in annual care.
- One recent study found illegals impose a $30 billion annual cost in lost tax revenue.
A wall to protect the entire southern border could cost as much as $25 billion – but that’s nowhere near as much as the cost of illegal immigration.
