AG Bill Barr Backs Trump’s Emergency Declaration, Congressional Resolution Veto

President Trump’s emergency declaration is going to face staunch-opposition, likely coming from liberal courts in blue states, any existing RINOs, and the entire Democratic Party (including the mainstream media). Yet, there are plenty of influential people willing to speak up and speak out about the pressing border crisis and the president’s authority under the National Emergencies Act:

Attorney General Bill Barr, who has been said to be moderate and establishment-oriented, lent credence to President Trump’s southern border emergency declaration-case, as reported by Fox News:

“President Trump’s veto Friday of a resolution blocking his declaration of a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexico border showed that he understands he wasn’t elected to appease career politicians in the Senate. He was elected, in part, to secure the southern border and protect American lives.”

“Attorney General William Barr defended the veto decision, saying, ‘Mr. President, your declaration of an emergency on the southern border was clearly authorized under the law and consistent with past precedent.'”

Sense a theme? The president has plenty of supporters willing to fight for his emergency declaration, including the top law enforcement officer in the nation. Bill Barr has been around Washington for decades, has served during multiple administrations, and is respected by many on both sides of the aisle.

A man with that much establishment bona fides is exactly the person President Trump needs in his corner, for this fight. The Trump administration and its supporters understand what America is up against. It is all about safety and security for American citizens. The Western Journal also covered the Attorney General’s statements:

“Barr spoke during a White House ceremony during which Trump vetoed a congressional resolution that sought to block the emergency. Trump’s declaration now faces a battle in the courts against states that are trying to block it.

The declaration ‘was clearly authorized under the law and consistent with past precedent,’ Barr said, adding that ‘the National Emergencies Act directly authorizes the President, and gives broad discretionary authority to the President, to identify and respond to emergent circumstances that require a decisive response.’

Under that law, ‘the humanitarian and security crisis we have on the border right now is exactly the kind of emergency that presidents are permitted to address,’ he said.

After noting that in the past 40 years, 59 emergencies have been declared, Barr said this one was more urgent than most because it was closer to home.

‘(A)ny of these have dealt with political conditions in countries like Burundi, Sierra Leone, Belarus. The crisis that we’re dealing with today is right on our doorstep, and it presents a real clear and present danger to the American people,’ he said.”

Building the wall is necessary to securing the border. Securing the border is necessary in order to ensure that American citizens don’t continue to fall prey to vicious MS-13 gang members, community-destroying drugs, and floods of unskilled individuals who will ride the entitlements system as bought-and-paid-for Democrat voters.

Not to mention the inhumane conditions, human-trafficking, and various forms of abuse those who decide to embark on the treacherous journey to invade America undoubtedly face.

Just listen to these “angel families” speak about the importance of border security, including a wall, and how their families were devastated by unthinkable crimes committed by illegal aliens:
