Today, President Trump signed an executive order to allow consumers to purchase health insurance across state lines.
The measure is said to promote group-health care written by associations and small businesses.
“The cost of the Obamacare has been so outrageous, it is absolutely destroying everything in its wake,” Trump said of the signing. “We’re going to have great health care across state lines…it will cost the government nothing.”
Hardcore-conservative senator Rand Paul of Kentucky is calling the executive order “the biggest free-market health care reform in a generation.”

The president signed an executive order “to promote healthcare choice and competition” Thursday morning at the White House.
It is said to expand access to “association health plans” – group plans written by trade associations, small businesses, and other groups. Such large group plans do not have to abide by all the requirements of individual plans under ‘Obamacare.’ The order also tasks administration officials to develop policies to increase competition in the health insurance industry.
“The cost of the Obamacare has been so outrageous, it is absolutely destroying everything in its wake,” Mr. Trump said.
“We’re going to have great health care across state lines,” Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Wednesday night. “People can buy it. It will cost the government nothing.”
It will “cost the United States government virtually nothing and people will have great, great health care. And when I say people, I mean by the millions and millions,” the president said at the signing ceremony.
“You’ll get such low prices for such great care,” he said.
Trump said the measures “should have been done a long time ago, and could have been done a long time ago.” The goal is to “increase the healthcare choices for millions of Americans, potentially allowing some employers to join together across State lines to offer coverage.”
It could take up to six months for any specific changes to take effect, and Congress is still needed.
