Being the President is hard! Sometimes, you even have to work through Christmas.
Our busy, patriotic POTUS sat down on Christmas Eve to discuss U.S. radar intelligence, construction work and even foreign policy with some of the most important people on Earth.
What’s the catch? The very important people included elementary school children, waiting to hear from the President…and Santa Claus.
Trump charms the camera off in the clip of he and wife Melania taking calls from little boys and girls. The President could not be more gentle, polite or caring with each child, but he also treats them as equals and speaks to the kids like they are valued business associates.
In just the first 5 seconds of the video, Trump responds to a child’s plea for a specific toy. “(The toy is) very hot,” he tells the youngster. “They’re selling very well.”
Then the subject of Santa’s sleigh comes up. Like a boss, The Donald refers to the NORAD papers in front of him. “I can tell you exactly where Santa is right now, if you want to know the truth I have it right here in front of me,” he tells a hopeful. (Jolly St. Nick was in Africa, but Trump reassures the boy that “Santa moves very quickly.”)
Later, 45 discusses building blocks with a like-minded child. “I used to love those,” says Trump, who built skyscrapers when he grew up.
Near the end of the clip, the President makes a serious, touching statement to a young American. The words are so simple and yet so profound that they could turn into a campaign-trail message for Trump headed into the 2018 midterms.
“We’ve got prosperity,” he tells the child. “Now we want peace.”
