It’s time we set the record straight.
The Left is giddy today with news that Robert Mueller has filed charges against Paul Manafort and associate Rick Gates. But the news is a pyrrhic victory at best.
Here’s why…
The charges against Manafort are from actions taken in 2012-2013. In other words, NOTHING to do with Trump. Trump hadn’t even declared he was running for President until 2015, and he didn’t start working with Manafort on the campaign until 2016.
In other words, Mueller was hired to do a witch-hunt, and when he could find NOTHING on President Donald J. Trump, he had to expand his investigation to find SOMETHING. He had to go back all the way to 2012 to find something on Paul Manafort — and keep in mind, these are allegations only, not even proven at this point.
So what we really learned today is that big, bad Robert Mueller, with the full weight of the Deep State behind him, was able to find NOTHING on President Trump. Nothing folks! Because if he had found even an unpaid parking ticket from 1995, you’d better believe he’d be filing charges!
Donald Trump is squeaky clean!
Also, the charges he is leveling against Manafort don’t even have anything to do with Russia, they have to do with Ukraine! But that’s pesky geography the Left and Mueller can’t really be bothered with. They’re both somewhere in the Slavic region of the world, right? Close enough!
More confirmation from Fox News:
Much of the political left is cheering about the indictment of Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort. They think it will undermine President Trump. The problem, though, is that it appears increasingly likely that Manfort’s indictment has nothing to do with the Trump campaign.
It is true that Robert Mueller began investigating Paul Manafort based on Manafort’s dealings with the Trump campaign and Russia. But the special prosecutor, like most prosecutors, can go in the direction an investigation takes him. If the investigation goes off the trail of the campaign into a new direction, the special prosecutor can go in that new direction. That appears to be the case here.
The federal investigators have been curious about various wire transfers during the 2012 period. Manafort has close ties to both Russian operatives and various other unsavory figures tied into Moscow’s political apparatus.
It appears he may have transferred money and accepted payments that he should not have and that he possibly failed to accurate report them on taxes. This is all based on the initial reports that are leaking out.
If that is the case, Manafort and his associate Rick Gates are getting indicted for things far removed from the Trump campaign.
