A story in the New York Daily News this weekend was entitled “The President who made Christmas a Holiday.”
It was written about Grant, not President Trump. But a look at the narrative of Trump’s first holiday season as POTUS makes the title of the piece ironic. The Donald has fought for America’s right to say “Merry Christmas” in all circumstances without fear of offending fellow citizens.
Therefore, we can also say it is Trump who has made Christmas a holiday!

Trump sent out a powerhouse tweet on Christmas Eve, just as Santa was beginning to mush his reindeer:
People are proud to be saying Merry Christmas again. I am proud to have led the charge against the assault of our cherished and beautiful phrase. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 25, 2017
Newsweek, known among non-Fake News journalists as “Opinion Week,” fought back with a series of whiny, immature headlines:
“Trump Was Saying Happy Holidays When Obama Said Merry Christmas”
(Actually, Trump happened to tweet “very Happy Holiday” once in 2013. Besides, the headline implies Trump is RIGHT about the importance of the word “Christmas!”)
“Trump Criticized Obama for Holiday Vacation In 2013”
(Maybe because things were lousy, and the poverty level was spiking?)
“Jesus Would Not Approve Of Make America Great Again Christmas Hats”
(Maybe Jesus also loves the Clintons, who CAMPAIGNED WITH THE SAME SLOGAN in 1992.)
Merry Christmas, Trumpers. Your President has made this day a bona-fide American holiday…for the 2nd time in our history.
