In a recent poll published here on DML’s website, we asked readers who they wanted to fill the open position left by Comey. Gowdy was the runaway winner, grabbing 75% of the vote.
Gowdy, who is a former state and federal prosecutor, said in a statement that he told A.G. Jeff Sessions that he would not be the right person for the job. Gowdy said he felt the FBI needs a director “with not only impeccable credentials but also one who can unite the country as we strive for justice and truth.”
Gowdy concluded by stating he believes the right person will emerge soon.
