Anti-Trump Media Gaslights the American People

For over two years we’ve been hearing from CNN, MSNBC, The Washingon Post, and other news media outlets that Trump-Russia collusion wasn’t a matter of “if” but “when” indictments would be handed out to Trump campaign members and impeachment proceedings filed.

Story after story after story from such allegedly veritable journalists as Rachel Maddow, Don Lemon, Chris Matthews, Chris Cuomo, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Joy Reed, Brian Stelter, and countless others claimed incessantly that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had “the goods” on the Trump team, and they were “closing in” on them.

Chris Matthews, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT)… Go!

Oh, did I forget to mention CNN Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin? How dare I…

What is truly amazing is that after the obvious shellacking in store for these Fake News Networks/Organizations — CNN, MSNBC, Huffpost — due to the fact that they lied to the American people for two years, alleging they possessed evidence that our duly-elected president had committed treason, the heads of these companies now claim their journalists did nothing wrong and reported unbiased facts.

Are they really trying to gaslight the American people, or are they simply that deluded by Trump Derangement Syndrome? Interestingly enough, a New York Times article sheds light on the sheer disingenuousness and downright fraudulent behavior of the Fake News Networks and their top officials’ subsequent failure at justifying their conduct:

“The news media’s coverage of the [Special Counsel Robert Mueller] investigation, particularly on cable TV, caused millions of Americans who disapprove of Mr. Trump to put their faith in Mr. Mueller. There were even prayer candles, key chains and paintings made in the likeness of the silent 74-year-old Marine veteran, and his fans believed his looming report would bring, in the words of the ‘Bachelor’ creator Mike Fleiss, ‘the most dramatic finale of a presidency ever!’

Hogan Gidley, a White House spokesman, said that, by his count, The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN and MSNBC had published a combined 8,500 stories on the Russia probe. He specifically pointed to CNN and chyrons that would include the phrase ‘amid Russia investigation,’ no matter what the topic.

Jeff Zucker, president of CNN, said he was ‘entirely comfortable’ with the network’s coverage.

‘We are not investigators. We are journalists, and our role is to report the facts as we know them, which is exactly what we did,’ Mr. Zucker said in an email. ‘A sitting president’s own Justice Department investigated his campaign for collusion with a hostile nation. That’s not enormous because the media says so. That’s enormous because it’s unprecedented.’

‘The special counsel investigation documented, as we reported, extensive Russian interference in the 2016 election and widespread deceit on the part of certain advisers to the president about Russian contacts and other matters,’ said Martin Baron, executive editor of The Washington Post. ‘Our job is to bring facts to light. Others make determinations about prosecutable criminal offenses.’

Dean Baquet, the executive editor of The Times, echoed that sentiment. ‘We wrote a lot about Russia, and I have no regrets,’ he said. ‘It’s not our job to determine whether or not there was illegality.'”

Amazing. Even in the face of clear-cut failures to adhere to journalistic integrity, these bastions of truth continue to refuse to admit defeat. Moreover, these floundering networks’ ratings would have permanently resided in the toilet, had they not continued to lie their way into the hearts and minds of their leftist viewers.

There’s no doubt the media’s coverage aided and abetted the Democratic Party’s objective, which was to obstruct, investigate, and impeach their way back into power. Now they would have us all believe they didn’t, in fact, attempt to railroad the man Americans voted into office. The Jeff Zuckers of the media elite believe the American people are idiots who rely on networks like his to dictate to them what to believe and how they should think.

Their pomposity truly knows no bounds, and it doesn’t seem like it is going to get any better, as evidenced by CNN’s brilliant fact check of Trump saying, “no obstruction, no collusion.”

“President Donald Trump’s Mueller report victory lap continued as he arrived on Capitol Hill on Tuesday.

‘The Mueller report was great. It could not have been better. It said no obstruction, no collusion. It could not have been better,’ Trump said when asked by CNN’s Manu Raju about the report not exonerating him on the question of obstruction.

However, Trump falsely claimed that the report said there was no obstruction. Barr’s letter, directly quoting the Mueller report, clearly states that ‘while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him’ on questions of obstruction.

Mueller said he had thoroughly investigated the obstruction question, though he didn’t interview Trump in person and the written questions he submitted to the President did not address obstruction.”

CNN: doing hero’s work for the average American, with this one. Instead of backing off, saving a shred of credibility, and actually pursuing real stories about issues facing Americans, Jeff Zucker and Co. are fact checking the phrase “no obstruction.” Newsflash, the Mueller Report didn’t have enough evidence to support an obstruction of justice charge. The Attorney General looked at Mueller’s investigative team’s information they gathered and he couldn’t find evidence supporting a charge of obstruction. I think reporting that “no obstruction” is mostly-correct, but still a little wrong, is the least of CNN’s problems.

I’ll leave you with this parting gift — sure, CNN never got over its skis on Trump-Russiagate…
